I don't know how but it just doesn't. My #1 tip for stenciling though is use VERY little paint, the more paint you use the more likely it is to bleed. The other tip is just relax, it won't be perfect but once it is all done you don't notice the imperfections and it ends up looking "very clean" even though it's not!
