The Beginning of the End

If you follow my blog I'm sure you have noticed the gradual decrease in posts.  The truth is - there is just not that much left to do on my house.  The small projects have all been done and the few projects that remain are bigger (aka more expensive) so it takes time to save up to get those ones done.  I only expect to post 3 or 4 more times - and that is over the span of the next couple years.  I will always keep this blog up and running so that you can refer back to old posts.  I have loved doing this blog and so appreciate all the support and kind comments over the years, but this is the beginning of the end :(

What's left?

Kitchen Island countertop upgrade

The Master bedroom  - I plan to do grasscloth wallpaper and wood paneling on the walls along with built-in bookcases framing the door to the bathroom.

The Office - Built-in bookcases and wood paneling on the walls

The Foyer - wood paneling on the walls and columns

Thanks again for staying tuned and encouraging me in this process of making a house my home!

Master Bedroom Sitting Area

I finally got seating!  I also purchased a new table for between the chairs that had a natural wood tone that ties into the chandelier in the room.  I also decided to change out the curtains for something a little lighter.

I got plain white Ikea curtains (I bought an extra curtain so I could add length).  Since I actually use my curtains for privacy and to block out light in the morning, I also lined them with black-out liner.  Then I stenciled them.  I didn't bother with using a special kind of paint - just used what I had on hand.  I didn't bother with measuring it out either, just "eye-balled" it and they turned out great!  It was a quick and easy project!

The room is still not finished (but it's getting there!) - It could definitely use some warmth.  I plan to add grasscloth wallpaper someday.
