Backyard Before and After

I realized the only pictures I have posted of our backyard are from when we first moved in and installed the yard.  By now everything has grown in quite a bit and looks a little different.  So here is an update!

One of the biggest changes (besides all the growth of our plants) is the addition of quite a few homes now behind us!

BEFORE:
We have loved this fire pit patio area, the backside allowed us to retain dirt and create a hill which our kids enjoy too.

We get a lot of questions about our slide.
We just ordered it off amazon, and the guys that installed our deck installed the slide as well.

We hired a landscape architect to help us in drawing up the plans and it was very helpful!  Back when we did it, it was around $300 and we were left with beautiful plans (that we had input on) that we then gave out copies to landscapers to get their bids- or you could use the plans to guide you as you "do it yourself".  It made for a very smooth process and I'm very glad we did it that way!

  2. Is that a recessed trampoline??? If so, I have never heard of that, and please write a post on that!

    1. Around my neighborhood almost everyone has them recessed - it's great (and so much safer). We had our landscaper install it for us but if you want to DIY the job you just need to dig a hole then install the surrounding ring. Just search in-ground trampoline ring and you can see lots of examples, products, and instructions. Best of luck!

  3. Hi Amy! We are currently buying a home that has ZERO landscaping and I remembered this post. I didn't even know that you could hire a landscaper to simply draw out a plan and not necessarily do the work. Was the $300 just for him to draw up everything for you? We live in WV so I'm sure price would vary some. Glad I remembered this post!

    1. Yes $300 was just for drawing up a landscape plan. It's DEFINETLY worth it! You will want to look for a Landscape "Architect". Which is different than a "landscaper". Best of luck!
